Bio
Georges is the Associate National Programme Officer at UNESCO Multisectoral Office in Beirut. He holds a PhD in Water Law at the University of Dundee in Scotland, UK. His work focuses on water governance, traditional knowledge, water policies, blue economy, water history & archaeology. He is particularly interested in customs and practices of water conservation in Lebanon and on water diplomacy in the Levant. Georges has also expertise in International land and water management, Integrated Water Resources Management, Water Reform, and Water Users’ Associations. Georges is also an agricultural engineer with extensive farming experience. He has produced in the past reports and consultations for several international organizations such as the FAO, UNDP, UNESCWA, USAID, Geneva Water Hub, etc. He has edited and reviewed multiple chapters, and has several other published journal articles and presented at conferences related to the topic of water laws and governance. Georges held teaching posts during five years at the American University of Technology in Halat where he taught several courses on water law, water policy, water politics, and soil sciences.
