Bio
Since establishing the UNIDO Somalia Programme Office in Mogadishu in 2019, Ygor Scarcia has implemented a portfolio of projects supporting government institutions and private sector to strengthen an enabling environment able to promote inclusive, sustainable, broad-based economic growth led by the emerging Somali SME sector. Today, the project portfolio continues to grow as UNIDO in Somalia works closely with its partners to address binding constraints to growth in key productive sectors, leading to enduring productivity gains, increased value addition, and enhanced opportunities for inclusive and decent employment.
Mr. Scarcia brings to UNIDO Somalia operations a wide range of expertise, specializing in programme interventions supporting the development of industrial SME and government initiatives to boost private sector growth in fragile and post-crisis settings such as Lebanon, Syria and Iraq.
Mr. Scarcia holds an MBA from the University of San Francisco, California, and a BA and a MA in Political Science and International Relations from LUISS University in Rome, Italy.
