Bio
I am an accomplished Urban Development and Planning Professional, bridging academic learning with practical experience. Beginning with a B.Sc. in Science and Society from University College London's Department of Science and Technology, I graduated with First Class Honours, demonstrating a foundation in analyzing the interplay between science, technology, and societal dynamics.
Advancing my academic pursuits, I pursued an M.Sc. in Urban Development Planning at the reputable Bartlett Development Planning Unit, University College London. This endeavor yielded the Bartlett Accolade of Commendation. Notably, my dissertation titled "Are we home yet?" explored the intricate socio-spatial impact of Palestinian refugee camps on Jordan's urban fabric, garnering a Distinction Classification and recognition for Outstanding Achievement. Furthermore, my academic portfolio encompasses research on diverse subjects, such as urban transit analysis, socio-legal considerations in land distribution, conditions of economic and political globalisation, and participatory planning for refugee settlements.
I currently serve as an Urban Planner at the UN-Habitat Jordan Programme since 2020. Here, my role encompasses technical support, report generation, proposal drafting, research, and stakeholder engagement across public space projects, spatial analysis programmes, SDG localization, and policy development. Additionally, my role includes representing UN-Habitat at international conferences, contributing to capacity-building workshops, and fostering global collaborations.
In my previous role as a Trainee at ArchiCenter, Amman, I gained invaluable exposure to the dynamics of development strategies, socio-economic considerations, and the role of built environments in shaping urban landscapes. Further contributing to my professional journey, I engaged as a Student Researcher in collaboration with the Bartlett and Just Space in London. This experience involved formulating strategies for the implementation of Mayor Khan's London Plan, with an emphasis on the Brixton community's unique context.
Proficient in English and Arabic, I effectively navigate diverse professional contexts, leveraging competencies in socio-spatial analysis, technical writing, and stakeholder engagement.
