Bio
Layal is an environmental and water resources engineer with 19 years of experience in the fields of climate change, wastewater treatment and reuse, and environmental and social safeguards requirements of the World Bank and the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development, among others. She has international experience in environmental consulting and was involved on a wide range of environmental projects many of which were funded by international organizations and financing institutions. She joined the UN-Habitat Lebanon Office in March 2022 as climate change coordinator where she is leading a project funded by the Adaptation Fund and related to increasing resilience to climate change related water challenges in Lebanon and Jordan through several adaptation measures including wastewater reuse.
