Bio
Giordano Segneri joined the UNDP Regional Hub for Arab States as Governance and Peacebuilding Team Leader in 2020, where he steers regional advisors’ support in the areas of Governance, Conflict Prevention and Peacebuilding, PVE, and Rule of Law. He has 20 years of experience working in conflict, fragile and transition settings, and holds a PhD on Sociology of Risk (Rome, 2013) and a Master’s Degree in Moral Philosophy.

Previous experiences include peace and development advisory support to the UN Country Team in Tunisia (2014-2020); Policy support to UN Country Team and UN political mission in Libya (2009-2013); coordination and strategic advice to UN Country Teams to several countries including Algeria, Jordan, Libya, and Mauritius (2008-2009); Regional coordination support to the UN Regional Directors’ Team Secretariat for West and Central Africa in Dakar (2007). Before joining the UN, Giordano worked as Country Representative and Project Manager for INGOs in Gabon and Mozambique (2003-2007) and served as ICRC Delegate in Iraq in 2003. He started his career as researcher for the Civil Defense Study Center in Italy, followed by the management of peacebuilding and recovery projects in Rwanda, DRC, and Bosnia-Herzegovina (1999-2002).
