Amr Lashin is an urban planner occupying Urban Governance, Policies and legislation program manager position at UN-Habitat Egypt, he has more than 20 years working experiences with different national and international organization in the fields of Governance, Urban Development, Capacity Building, Urban Planning, Strategic Partnerships...
Amr has also a good experience in community and citizen engagement, participation and social accountability. He has also worked in organizational and institutional development for CSOs and Public (local and national) administration.
Over the past years he has worked in tackling the multi-dimensional urbanization challenges with special attention to urban management, urban planning and urban economy. Creating platforms for stakeholders' engagement and empowerment have been one of the sectors where Amr and his team have been activity working towards establishing and enhancing within the Egyptian context . Amr, and his team, has been working with all stakeholders and on different levels to find new appropriate, realistic and context driven ways of making sure that the urbanization processes are providing acceptable spatial standards and services.
Developing customized, user and context friendly capacity building strategies of relevant actors in reforming the legal and institutional framework governing urban development; promoting the empowerment of local government; enhancing land tenure security; establishing processes for participating and inclusive planning process; enhancing local economic development and social entrepreneurs, was one key line of experience where Amr and his team were able to successfully implement. Amr also led the process of providing legislation enhancement and policies development support on the national level in order to replicate and scale up all of its successful interventions.
