Bio
Dr Giovanni Scepi joined the UNESCO Ramallah Office in April 2020 as Head of Culture Unit and Programme Specialist for Culture. He has formerly worked in the Secretariat of the 2003 Convention for the Safeguarding of Intangible Cultural Heritage within the Living Heritage Entity at UNESCO Headquarters in Paris from May 2011 to April 2020. There he covered several functions including the role of Regional Officer for the Arab States in 2011, for Europe and North America between 2012 and 2015, and for Asia and the Pacific from 2013 to 2020. For the whole period he has been responsible for the periodic reporting mechanisms and conducted the process of reform of the reporting mechanisms and the adoption of the overall results framework for the 2003 Convention. From 2007 until 2011, he worked as a consultant on UNESCO matters for the 'Italian Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Forestry', the 'Italian Ministry for Environment, Land and Sea', as well as for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the National Research Council. Mr Scepi has a master degree in International Relations from Sapienza University of Rome (Italy), a master in Law and Economics of the Environment from the University of Siena (Italy) and a Second level master degree in Political science and international relations from Sapienza University of Rome (Italy).
