Dr. Samar ElFeky is a Medical Doctor qualified in Public Health from University of Liverpool in UK and in Health System Research from Johns Hopkins University, USA.
Dr ElFeky has working experience in WHO/EMRO in health promotion and wellbeing, Health for Older People, social determinants of Health, integrating Health in All Policies (HiAP), health literacy and community engagement.
She participated actively in promoting and implementing healthy settings (Age-friendly cities, healthy cities, health promoting schools, healthy workplaces, healthy villages and healthy markets). She is leading monitoring and evaluation of Healthy Cities Programme in countries of the Region including Bahrain, Egypt, Iran, Lebanon, Jordan, Kuwait, Oman, Pakistan, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Sudan, Tunisia and UAE.
In addition, Dr ElFeky participated in implementing Urban Health Equity Assessment and Response Tool (Urban HEART) in Egypt, Iran, Morocco, Jordan, Sudan and Tunisia.
Dr ElFeky participated also in capacity building activities to integrate care for older people at PHC level using WHO ICOPE guidelines. She led the training of community health workers and development of relevant strategies in many countries of the region.
