Bio
I have more than 16 years of experience in the United Nations system. From 2014 to 2018 I worked at the secretariat of the United Nations Convention to Combat Desertification based in Bonn, Germany. I supported the Committee for the Review of the Implementation of the Convention (CRIC) and acted as the coordinator of the Arab States creating a robust network within the MENA region. In January 2019 I held the position of Regional Coordinator at the Regional Office for West Asia of UNEP, working on Environmental Governance and Law in 12 Arab States, in addition to managing projects at national and sub-regional levels. Currently, I am working as the Regional Development Coordinator in UNEP Regional Office for West Asia, coordinating programmes at strategic level with countries, exploring partnerships and ensuring adequate monitoring and reporting of the Regional Office. I also work with Resident Coordinator Offices across the region and the UN Country Teams to ensure mainstreaming the environmental dimensions in country Cooperation Frameworks and other UN Reform processes. Priro to 2014 I worked four years in a Peacekeeping mission in South of Lebanon and in an intergovernmental Tribunal in the Hague. I also worked two years in the private agricultural sector in Lebanon. I gained skills in conflict resolution, communication, planning, organizing and client orientation. I speak fluently three UN languages (Arabic, English and French), I have a working knowledge of Italian.
