Bio
Spanish national, graduated in Barcelona and finalised postgraduate studies at the LSE in the UK. I joined ESCWA’s gender justice, population and inclusive development cluster as a poverty reduction and social policy advisor in 2022. Previously I was a research specialist at UNICEF Angola, where I led on the impact evaluation of the first ever cash transfers programme in the country.
Previously, I was the head of data management for Afrobarometer. Afrobarometer produces nationally representative household surveys in 37 African countries. I led the introduction of electronic data capture. I published policy papers on gender equality in Africa. I also worked for IDASA, the Institute for Democracy that pioneered budget analysis in the African continent.
Prior to moving to Africa, I was a principal research officer at the former UK’s Department for Trade and Industry, where I managed the Workplace Employment Relations Survey, and I was part of the team writing the book of findings, a reference text in the field.
