Bio
Prior to joining UNFPA, Luzia has worked 5 years for UNICEF in New York HQ and in the Europe and Central Asia Region supporting a global portfolio of programmes for adolescent girls’ skills and leadership including in STEM and innovation. Before, Luzia has advanced maternal and newborn health programmes through pilots and implementation of clinical mHealth tools in Guinea, Benin and Ethiopia, and she also has a background in the private sector and communications. She is passionate about leveraging evidence and technology for transformative results in gender equality and women’s and girls’ health and wellbeing everywhere. Luzia has a M.Sc. in Social Anthropology and Gender Studies from the University of Copenhagen and Université Paris 8 Vincennes, Saint-Denis.
