Bio
Majed Skaini is an Economic Statistician at the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Western Asia (UN-ESCWA), working on the areas of price statistics and national accounts. He is also the Regional Program Manager for the International Comparison Program in the Arab Region managing the production of regional purchasing power parities and its integration with CPI and the development of new indices. He is also doing a lot of work on modernizing statistics and introducing innovation by supporting member countries in developing new price collection and extraction tools. Prior to joining the United Nations in 2006, he worked in different fields in the private sector including financial consulting, corporate development and finance. Majed also worked in Academia as an Economics instructor at the American University of Beirut. Majed has a Master’s degree in Financial Economics and a Bachelor’s degree in Mathematical Statistics, both from the American University of Beirut.
