Bio
Salma Yousry is an Egyptian Architect and Urban Planner, with more than 15 years of Experience in the field. Currently, she is the Urban Development Programme Manager in UN-Habitat Egypt office.

Salma’s UN experience started in 2013 as Governance and Legislation Officer, then Programme Officer for Housing and Urban Development. During her recent years, she worked closely with key partners and stakeholders to enable innovative impact at both policy and implementation levels. Her achievements include leading the support to the first Egyptian rights-based National Housing Strategy, the new participatory urban upgrading and development approach, and innovative mechanisms that enabled provision of clean drinking water to more than 2 million people in priority areas in Egypt.

Prior to that, Salma worked on a number of architectural and urban planning projects in Egypt with local, national and international partners.

Salma holds a PhD from Ain Shams University, Egypt in Urban Development, and a Postgraduate Diploma in Housing and Land Management from the Institute of Housing and Urban Development Studies (IHS), Rotterdam, Netherlands.
