Bio
I lived in Istanbul, Turkey for 9 years, working first as a translator and editor before earning my Master’s in Political Science from Bogazici University in 2018. My thesis was a methodological review of research on European state integration/migration policies. I then interned in the Istanbul Regional Hub of UNDP and UNICEF, focusing on monitoring and evaluation, and analyzing the results of governance and peacebuilding and gender equality projects in Eastern Europe and Central Asia. I worked as a M&E/project officer with Terre des Hommes NL, a Dutch NGO focusing on children’s rights and combating child exploitation and labor.
My technical background is in monitoring and evaluation (mainly setting up monitoring frameworks for new projects and advising on participatory research methodologies) and I have a wide range of thematic interests, including equitable economic and social development, participatory governance, gender equality, and children’s rights and participation. Currently at ESCWA I research and provide analysis to issues regarding gender equality, specifically barriers towards women joining the workforce in the Arab States.
