Bio
Dr. Nanor Karageozian leads the Urban Analysis and Policy Unit at UN-Habitat Lebanon. She manages multiple urban research (e.g. city and neighbourhood profiling) and policy projects, which also have capacity-building, knowledge exchange, and advocacy components.

Before joining UN-Habitat, from 2016 till 2018, Dr. Karageozian was an Assistant Professor and the Armenian Studies Department Director at Haigazian University, Lebanon, where she taught courses on migration and diaspora studies, identity, intercultural studies, and contemporary Armenian (political) history.

Dr. Karageozian has over 15 years of experience in research projects and in writing/editing a wide range of print and online publications. At UN-Habitat Lebanon, she leads the unit responsible for research/normative work, including GIS/Information Management. She serves as senior editor of most key UN-Habitat Lebanon publications, and she regularly contributes to regional publications. Also, she has undertaken social science research consultancies on refugee/diaspora issues, such as for the Rights for Time Project and the Armenian Diaspora Survey project. Previously, she worked as Senior Web Content Editor at the Lebanese American University’s Marketing and Communications Department and as Graduate Research Assistant at the American University of Beirut (AUB)’s Political Studies and Public Administration Department. She was also a freelance editor for non-governmental organizations (NGOs) in socioeconomic development, culture and education fields.

Both at UN-Habitat and at Haigazian University, she has overseen departmental/project communication plans, organized events and outreach activities, and contributed to the mobilization of new funds and development/coordination of partnerships with the public and private sectors, academic and research institutions (within and outside Lebanon), United Nations agencies, and local/international NGOs. She has been UN-Habitat Lebanon’s focal person in several humanitarian/development coordination bodies related to programme management, data and statistics, gender, etc.

Dr. Karageozian holds a DPhil in International Development from the University of Oxford, UK, and an M.A. in Public Administration from AUB, Lebanon.
