Bio
Phleem is an Economic Affairs officer UNESCWA, Governance and Conflict Prevention Cluster, working on governance and economic issues of the Arab region with focus on Yemen. Prior to joining ESCWA Phleem was an Economist with the Sana’a Center for Strategic Studies focusing on the political economy of Yemen and a consultant on economic policy and development.
She is a contributor in the book 'The Impact and Influence of International Financial Institutions on the Middle East and North Africa' (2020). Her writing and analysis are featured in media outlets such as Al-Monitor, the Financial Times, and Reuters.
Phleem holds a master’s of science in industrial and network economics from the Berlin Institute of Technology, where she also received her B.Sc in Economics.
