Bio
Milad Pournik is working as an Associate Social Affairs Officer at ESCWA. He works on the aging and migration portfolios, mainly conducting research, outreach, and technical assistance (especially for Somalia). He has a wealth of experience as a gender equality researcher and advocate with experience working in international development, bolstering global reach and policy impact of academia and international organizations.

Milad worked as a HeforShe Masculinities Programme Consultant with UN Women’s Regional Office for Asia and the Pacific. He has worked as a Policy Analyst for the World Policy Analysis Center (WORLD) at UCLA. Milad also served as a consultant for the World Bank’s Gender and Development team and with Management Systems International (MSI). During his tenure as a Research Associate with the Global Gender Program at George Washington University, he published a working paper on Civil Society Organizations and Empowerment of Women and Girls in Iran. Prior to beginning his professional career, Milad interned with the Women’s National Committee of Yemen and UNDP’s Regional Centre for Arab States.

Milad received an MA in Global Policy from the LBJ School of Public Affairs at The University of Texas at and an MA in Economics & International Relations from the University of St. Andrews. He recently completed an MSc in Impact Evaluation for International Development at the University of East Anglia.
