Bio
Geetha Nayak is an Ecology and Environmental Science specialist with over 10 years of experience in development sector, research, and academia. She obtained her Ph.D. from Pondicherry University, India. Geetha did her post-doctorate at the Centre for Agri-Environmental Research, University of Reading, UK, and Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, USA. She was awarded the prestigious Fulbright Post-Doctoral Fellowship in 2011-2012. Her work focused on the effect of land use intensification on ecosystem services delivered by pollinators in forests and agroecosystems. Before joining UNEP West Asia, she worked for GIZ India; She is experienced in implementing complex projects involving laws and policies related to biodiversity and natural resource management to contribute to SDGs and national commitment to international conventions on biodiversity and environment. She has an excellent track record in building strategic partnerships and institutional engagement with multi-stakeholders, including ministries, government agencies, local communities, and the private sector, to achieve the desired impact.
