Bio
I completed a Master's Degree in Arts with a major in Democracy and Human Rights Studies from Birzeit University. In conjunction with my educational background, I possess a long and rich employment experience in the Palestinian Central Bureau of Statistics, including in the collection, compilation, analysis, and dissemination of statistical data. From 2010 to 2022, I was the national coordinator for the statistical monitoring system of Palestine.
During that period and since 2016, I worked as SDGs focal point for monitoring and reporting including supervising quality assurance in cooperation with national and international stakeholders and data providers. In fact, I contributed as a statistical expert to the formulation of the post-2015 agenda, with a focus on what came to be SDG 16 in the 2030 Agenda. In the same capacity, I was a member of the Expert Group piloting the indicators whose custodian agency was the UNDP Oslo Governance Centre. I was also a member of the Advisory Board of the GIZ Global Network on Partners for Review focusing on VNRs.
In my formal capacity as representative of the State of Palestine, I participated to the HLG-PCCB and the IAEG on SDG Indicators; and in the formulation of the outcomes of the 2018 and 2021 SDGs World Data Forum, as well as in preparations for the 2021 edition.
In 2022, I joined UN-ESCWA as a senior statistician with a focus on population censuses and CRVS.
Those are only examples of the numerous core teams/committees on statistics to which I contributed in Palestine and worldwide.
Through my education, employment, and accumulated expertise, I have acquired qualifications and skills which, I believe, are essential for the advertised position. I remain available to further discuss my motivations and profile.
