Bio
Regional Advisor for peacebuilding, governance, and institutional development at the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Western Asia (UN-ESCWA). Before joining ESCWA, I worked as Head of Research at the Common Space Initiative (CSI-UNDP). I supervised national and regional research and mapping related to national dialogues and reform processes in the MENA region. I also supported and facilitated a number of national dialogue processes. I also worked as associate professor at the faculty of law and political science at the Lebanese University, and as Program Director at the Lebanese Center for Policy Studies. I have published a number of articles and books on political development, social transformation and political reforms in the Arab countries. I hold a PhD in Political Science and Master’s degree in Comparative Political Sciences from the Institute of Political Sciences, Aix-en-Provence, France. I have served in many reform committees, mainly as an active member of civil society and human rights organizations in Lebanon.
