Bio
Niranjan Sarangi is a Senior Economic Affairs Officer in the Shared Economic Prosperity Cluster, UN-ESCWA. He leads the programme on Debt and Fiscal Policy in the Arab region at UN-ESCWA. He has led the first-of-its-kind two regional flagship reports “Social Expenditure Monitor for Arab States” and “Rethinking Fiscal Policy for the Arab Region”. He has engaged with more than 20 countries in Asia and Arab States to provide technical assistance toward addressing critical development challenges in the areas of fiscal policy, debt, public finance, human development and the SDGs. Niranjan holds a PhD in Development Economics from Jawaharlal Nehru University, Delhi, India.
