Bio
My work at ESCWA & earlier with the General Union of Chambers of Commerce, Industry & Agriculture for the Arab Countries provided me with a wealth of substantive & managerial experiences & equipped me with the necessary skills, knowledge & competencies. Working in close collaboration with organizational and departmental colleagues, experts, consultants, and member countries and other regional and international organizations has provided me the opportunity & ability to work on various thematic issues and tasks. Thematic issues included economic development, private sector, labour, population, human development, international trade, investment, social policy, social justice, civil society & participation, inclusive social development, urban development, post-2015 Agenda, SGDs, the New Urban Agenda (NUA) transport statistics and currently megatrends. I successfully delivered related outputs in a timely & efficient manner while ensuring that the highest quality standards and deadlines were met. Working on such issues provided me with the opportunity to successfully exercise leadership, managerial & collaborative skills. Often, I was the lead manager or coordinator and drafter of a publication or an activity, like being the task manager & focal point to produce the Habitat III Regional Report for the Arab Region & leading the regional consultations to H III (Quito, October 2016) as UNTT FP. I also followed up to roll out the NUA & extended support to MSs on urban issues including the conceptualization and implementation of a DA project on National Urban Policies. I was also the FP to several Intergovernmental meetings (IGMs) & contributed to other IGMs and sessions, liaised & coordinated closely with various stakeholders. During my tenure, I undertook several capacity-building and technical advisory missions to member states on various topics and produced conceptual papers, reports, presentations, and publications. Represented ESCWA on several occasions and delivered opening speeches, engaged in discussions, and gave presentations.
