Bio
Mrs. Reem Nejdawi works for the UN-Economic and Social Commission for Western Asia (ESCWA) since 2011. She is currently the Chief , Food and Environment Policies, Climate Change and Natural Resources Sustainability Cluster in Beirut, Lebanon. During 2017 to 2019, she led ESCWA Technology Centre in Amman, Jordan. She has over twenty years of professional development experience in the Arab region covering issues related to policy design; implementation and monitoring of sustainable development programs and projects as well as policy advice. Her work supports inter-governmental processes and cooperation with development stakeholders. She worked extensively in the fields related to food security, environment, rural and women development and SME/microfinance programs with special emphasis on resource efficiency in the Arab Region.
She co-authored reports, publications and articles on various development issues, including on food security, sustainable development, and environment in Arab countries.
Prior to joining ESCWA, she held various positions with NGOs, Jordanian women machinery and regional social business working on areas related to microfinance, small business services, rural development, and gender issues. She holds a master’s degree in International Trade from Eastern Michigan University, USA.
